Hey, I'm Roxie!
Experience

I work part time as a Manager for a wedding cake bakery called Casa Romana Sweets, where I also do graphics such as hand-menus, menu boards, flyers, social media assets, and product photography. My main responsibilities include general graphic work, social media, scheduling employees, managing employees, managing suppliers, handling finances, general paperwork, and general customer service.

I've been a passionate designer, artist, and gamer my entire life!

I come from a very long line of artists and computer scientists, some of them include architects, graphic designers, illustrators, programmers, and more!

From a young age I showed a talent for art and design, growing up my family always knew I would go into art. I ended up with the best of both worlds from my parents, I inherited my mom's side of the family's artistic skills, and my dad's side of the family's computer skills. I wanted to go into graphic design originally, but realized a passion for video games in more recent years.

Basically - I'm an artist, a seasoned gamer, and a computer nerd.

Education Background

In high school I focused mainly on courses such as communications tech, programming, visual arts, photography, and various English and writing courses.

Out of highschool I wanted to pursue graphic design. I completed the one year Art Fundamentals program at Sheridan College, and was encouraged to apply for video game design by my professors. I'm incredibly grateful to them for giving me the suggestion and confidence to apply for the Bachelor of Game Design program!

I couldn't believe I received an early acceptance!

Design Background

I worked for my high school from the tenth to the twelfth grade. I made graphics for the website and yearbook, I made lots of posters for all sorts of different purposes, I designed sweatshirts and other clothing articles, I was on the tech team, and even did photography for all school events. I did a lot of tutoring and assisting teachers in these courses as well. I was very involved and active in extracurricular activities which pertained to arts and technology, and kept in touch with my professors and school staff after graduation to help them transition my responsibilities onto new staff and students.

The summer after my high school graduation, I took a job with the Hurontario Corporate Center as a "Jr." Web Designer for a couple of months to work on a new project of theirs, the Rook Hotel (coming soon). I was brought on as a summer position, but ended up working through the following school semester. I mainly made graphics for their website and other various graphic projects such as email templates, possible logo and typeface designs, etc. I also assisted with general tech and design related work, and worked in teams.
